The week of April 20 was Residential Property Managers Career Week, a time set aside by the National Apartment Association to highlight the work of residential property managers and showcase career opportunities in the field. With the Chicago area ranking as the fourth largest apartment market in the country, there are hundreds of people working as property managers in the city and suburbs. Marquette Management’s own Amanda LauLetta, property manager of Preserve at Canterra in Warrenville, Ill., was one of three pros highlight in the Illinois Real Estate Journal for a profile on Chicago-area property managers.

In the article, Amanda shares what her role as property manager is like at the 343-unit community that she has managed for the past eight years of her 19 total years with Marquette Management. Overseeing a team of eight, her role covers a wide range of responsibilities including budgeting, monthly financial reporting, employee engagement and team development, as well as resident retention and satisfaction.

Amanda began her career in the industry during high school, working as a receptionist and in the leasing/management office of a multifamily community. Working through college as a leasing agent, she accepted a management position upon graduation and has never looked back. “My guiding philosophy is ‘choose a job you love, and you will never work at day in your life’,” she said.

And what does she love most about property management: building relationships and providing a community that residents are proud to call home. She approaches her job with a business owner’s mindset, noting this role gives one an opportunity to change lives, provide quality service and build relationships.

On behalf of Marquette Management – we thank Amanda for a job well done and for her years of dedication and service to our residents!
