The Marquette Cos. has confirmed the purchase of Two Itasca Place, a 70-unit failed condo building here, after working with the developer and West Suburban Bank. The Naperville, IL-based firm is converting the building into apartments, following a controversial rezoning approval in late January by the Village Planning Commission.

Marquette Plans $1B of Activity in Five Years
The locally based Marquette Cos. has high hopes for the future, targeting about $1 billion of business in the next five years. The company, which owns and manages about 9,000 apartments in five states, has set a goal of adding another 11,000 units by 2017.
Copper Springs Reopens
After an extensive rehab by Marquette Cos, the Apartments at Copper Springs celebrated its grand reopening last week. We spoke with managing director of acquisitions Darren Sloniger (snapped at the reopening party)he tells us Marquette was drawn to the 376-unit, Class-A project because of its great location in the 290 corridor and upside opportunity.
Marquette's Jim Cunningham tells us Chicago multifamily returns are simply "euphoric" right now. Sure, some areas like the Northwest quadrant have a bit of softness, but he expects rents to go up another 4% to 8% in 2012.
The Apartments at Copper Springs Grand Opening January 12
Naperville, Ill.-based Marquette Companies has announced the grand opening of The Apartments at Copper Springs, a rental complex in Houston that the company purchased and rehabbed. The ceremonial event will be held on Thursday, January 12 at 6 p.m., and will include cocktails, hors doeuvres and a ribbon cutting.
